Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Runlock ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

You must be at least 16 years of age to use this App. By using Runlock, you represent and warrant that you are at least 16 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Floroiu Ionela ("we," "us," or "our"), the operator of Runlock.

2. Description of Service

Runlock is a fitness-based screen time management application designed to help users reduce unwanted screen time by replacing digital habits with physical exercise.

2.1 Core Functionality

The App operates on an "exercise-to-screen-time" exchange system:

• App Blocking: Using Apple's Family Controls and Screen Time API, Runlock allows you to select applications on your device that you wish to restrict access to. These apps will display a blocking screen ("Shield") when you attempt to open them.
• Earning Coins: You can earn in-app currency ("Runcoins" or "coins") by completing physical exercises tracked through the App:
  • Running/Walking: Tracked via your device's GPS location services
  • Push-ups and Squats: Tracked via your device's camera using Apple Vision on-device processing
• Exchanging Coins: Earned coins can be exchanged for temporary access to your blocked applications. Each coin equals one minute of unlocked screen time.
• Shield System: When you attempt to open a blocked app, a shield screen appears encouraging you to complete exercise to earn access. The "Exchange" button on this screen will prompt you to open Runlock to convert your earned coins into screen time.

2.2 Subscription Service

Runlock operates as a subscription-based service ("Runlock+"). A subscription is required to access the core functionality of the App, including app blocking and the coin exchange system.

3. Account & User Data

3.1 No User Accounts

Runlock does not require you to create a user account. You do not need to provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the App.

3.2 Anonymous Identification

For subscription management purposes, the App uses RevenueCat, a third-party service that assigns an anonymous identifier to your device. This identifier:

• Is generated automatically by your device
• Is not linked to your personal identity
• Is used solely to verify your subscription status
• Can be copied from the App's paywall screen if needed for support purposes

3.3 Local Data Storage

All of your personal data, including exercise history, coins earned, achievements, blocked app selections, and preferences, is stored locally on your device only. This data is not transmitted to our servers or any third party.

4. Subscription & Payment Terms

4.1 Subscription Options & Pricing

Runlock+ is available with the following subscription plans:

Prices are in US Dollars. Actual prices may vary based on your location and currency. The exact price will be displayed in the App before purchase.

4.2 Free Trial

The Runlock+ Yearly subscription includes a 7-day free trial for new subscribers:

• You will not be charged during the 7-day trial period
• You will receive a reminder notification 2 days before the trial ends
• Your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription ($49.99/year) at the end of the trial unless cancelled
• You may cancel at any time during the trial through your Apple ID settings without being charged

4.3 Billing

All payments are processed through Apple's App Store. By subscribing, you agree to Apple's terms and conditions for in-app purchases. We do not have access to your payment information.

4.4 Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of your selected plan.

4.5 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings:

1. Open the Settings app on your device
2. Tap your name at the top
3. Tap "Subscriptions"
4. Select Runlock and tap "Cancel Subscription"

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to Runlock+ features until the end of your paid period.

4.6 Refunds

All refund requests must be made through Apple. We do not process refunds directly. Please contact Apple Support or visit reportaproblem.apple.com for refund requests.

5. Family Controls & Device Access

5.1 Required Permissions

To provide its core functionality, Runlock requires access to Apple's Family Controls and Screen Time API. When you first set up the App, you will be prompted to grant this access. Without this permission, the App cannot block or restrict access to other applications.

5.2 How App Blocking Works

When you grant Family Controls access and select apps to block:

• The selected apps will display a shield (blocking screen) when opened
• The shield is displayed by iOS itself through an extension, not by the Runlock app directly
• This means apps remain blocked even if Runlock is not running in the background
• The shield displays a message encouraging you to exercise, along with an "Exchange" button
• Tapping "Exchange" sends you a notification to open Runlock and convert your coins to screen time

5.3 Unlocking Apps

When you exchange coins for screen time:

• The selected apps are temporarily unblocked for the purchased duration
• Once the time expires, the apps are automatically re-blocked
• You maintain full control over which apps are blocked at all times

5.4 User Control

You are always in control of your blocked apps:

• You can add or remove apps from your blocked list at any time within Runlock
• You can disable the App's blocking functionality by removing Runlock from your device's Screen Time settings
• An "Emergency Unlock" feature is available in Settings for urgent situations (note: using this feature will reset your streak)

5.5 Limitations

The App relies on Apple's Family Controls and Screen Time API. We cannot guarantee that:

• All apps can be blocked (some system apps may be exempt)
• Blocking will work identically across all iOS versions
• The Screen Time API will function without interruption

6. User Responsibilities

6.1 Proper Use

By using Runlock, you agree to:

• Perform exercises honestly and accurately to earn coins
• Not attempt to circumvent, manipulate, or cheat the exercise tracking systems
• Not use automated tools, scripts, or devices to simulate exercise activity
• Use the App in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations

6.2 Physical Fitness

Before using Runlock's exercise features, you should:

• Consult with a physician or healthcare provider if you have any medical conditions or concerns about your ability to exercise safely
• Ensure you are physically capable of performing the exercises (running, push-ups, squats)
• Exercise in a safe environment with adequate space
• Stop exercising immediately if you experience pain, dizziness, or discomfort

6.3 Your Content

If you set a profile picture or username within the App, you are responsible for ensuring this content:

• Does not violate any third party's rights
• Is appropriate and not offensive
• Belongs to you or you have permission to use it

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

7.1 "As Is" Provision

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

7.2 No Guarantee of Service

We do not warrant that:

• The App will meet your specific requirements
• The App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
• The results obtained from using the App will be accurate or reliable
• Any errors in the App will be corrected

7.3 Exercise Tracking Accuracy

The App uses GPS and camera-based tracking to verify exercises. We do not guarantee:

• Perfect accuracy in distance tracking for runs
• Perfect accuracy in repetition counting for push-ups and squats
• That all exercises will be properly detected or credited

7.4 Third-Party Dependencies

The App's functionality depends on Apple's Family Controls, Screen Time API, and other system features. These systems may:

• Change or be updated by Apple without notice
• Function differently across iOS versions
• Experience interruptions or limitations beyond our control

8. Limitation of Liability

8.1 General Limitation

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL FLOROIU IONELA, ITS AFFILIATES, OR SERVICE PROVIDERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP.

8.2 Health Disclaimer

RUNLOCK IS NOT A MEDICAL OR HEALTHCARE APPLICATION. We are not responsible for any health issues, injuries, or medical conditions that may arise from using the App or performing exercises, including but not limited to:

• Muscle strains, sprains, or injuries
• Cardiovascular issues
• Falls or accidents during exercise
• Any pre-existing conditions aggravated by exercise

YOU ASSUME ALL RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH PHYSICAL EXERCISE. If you experience any adverse health effects while using the App, stop immediately and consult a medical professional.

8.3 App Blocking Functionality

We are not liable for any consequences resulting from:

• The App failing to block applications as expected
• The App blocking applications unexpectedly or at unintended times
• Loss of access to apps in urgent or emergency situations
• Any work, personal, or other impacts from restricted app access

8.4 Maximum Liability

IN ANY CASE, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL DAMAGES SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

9. Intellectual Property

9.1 Ownership

Runlock, including its name, logo, design, graphics, user interface, code, and all related content, is owned by Floroiu Ionela and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

9.2 License to Use

Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use the App for your personal, non-commercial purposes on devices that you own or control.

9.3 Restrictions

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the App or its content
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Remove any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
• Use the App for any commercial purpose without our written consent
• Create derivative works based on the App

10. Third-Party Services

10.1 RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat processes your subscription through Apple and maintains an anonymous identifier to verify your subscription status. RevenueCat's privacy policy is available at: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

10.2 Apple Services

The App integrates with the following Apple services:

• Family Controls / Screen Time API: Used to block and unblock applications on your device. This feature is provided by Apple and operates according to Apple's terms and policies.
• Location Services: Used to track running and walking distance via GPS. Location data is processed on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
• Camera & Apple Vision: Used to detect and count push-ups and squats. All camera processing happens entirely on your device. No images or video are stored or transmitted.

10.3 Third-Party Terms

Your use of third-party services integrated with Runlock is subject to those services' respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or content of third-party services.

11. Modifications to Terms

11.1 Right to Modify

We reserve the right to modify, update, or change these Terms at any time. Changes may be made to reflect updates to the App, changes in law, or improvements to our services.

11.2 Notification of Changes

When we make material changes to these Terms:

• We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document
• We may notify you through the App or via a push notification
• Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms

11.3 Review of Terms

We encourage you to periodically review these Terms to stay informed of any updates. The most current version will always be available within the App.

12. Termination

12.1 Termination by You

You may stop using the App at any time by:

• Cancelling your subscription through your Apple ID settings
• Deleting the App from your device
• Revoking Family Controls access in your device's Screen Time settings

12.2 Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, without prior notice or liability, if:

• You breach any provision of these Terms
• You engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
• You attempt to circumvent or manipulate the App's systems
• Continued provision of the service becomes impractical or unlawful

12.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

• Your right to use the App will cease immediately
• Any unused subscription time will remain valid until the end of your paid period
• All data stored locally on your device will remain until you delete the App
• We have no obligation to retain or provide any of your data

12.4 Survival

The following sections survive termination: Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Intellectual Property, and Governing Law.

13. Governing Law

13.1 Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Romania, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

13.2 Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Romania.

13.3 European Union Users

If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you may also be entitled to invoke the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence, and you may bring legal proceedings in the courts of that country.
